Invisible Children: Countdown to the Rescue



On April 25th, 2009, the international community will unite to deliver the innocent from Joseph Kony’s reign and ensure he is brought to justice. Thousands of participants will gather in 100 cities across the world to symbolically abduct themselves to free the abducted.

Deluge & Jonathan Stockstill

If you have never heard of Jonathan Stockstill, you have been missing out. He is a worship leader at a youth group down in Louisiana and is one amazing guy. I had the opportunity of hearing him at the Generation Church Conference up in Kirkland, WA. He and his band Deluge really know how to bring the house down. Compassion Art


CompassionArt is a charity that joins the dots between art and poverty. It raises money to help breathe life into the poorest communities, restoring hope and igniting justice.

What a cool way to invoke change to world that is so desperately in need. I love Israel Houghton and his words of encouragement to those who feel like you can't do much. Pirate's or Ninja's

This has been a much debated topic amongst young people around the world. If you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about, then you probably are a little too old to know what I mean. A debate has floated around the web for years now asking the question, "Are you a pirate or a ninja." For me I never could quite decide because I didn't know if either still existed, but today I found out otherwise... Pirates are most definitely still real. If you don't believe me check out the article and video here. I still don't know if Ninja's are real. Because of this reason I am leaning towards pirates. Plus who wouldn't want to dominate the seas with a giant ship? What do you think you would have been and why... Pirate or Ninja?

Oprah Twittering

I thought this was really intriguing of how the world of Twitter has quite litterally exploded around the world. It is amazing to me the tides of culture and how they so quickly swing from one thing to the next. It seems as though one minute our culture is talking about who said what on their myspace page and the next minute they are saying what they are doing on their twitter. Anyway, Oprah did a feature on her show all about Twitter. I have been using twitter for awhile now and love it. It is so interesting how the simplest of things can shift the whole weight of culture in an instance. After you check out this video, you can follow me on twitter by clicking here. Invisible Children


This hour in history needs a dedicated circle of transformed non-comformists… The saving of our world will come, not through the complacent adjustment of the conforming majority, but through the creative maladjustment of a nonconforming minority….like Thomas Jefferson, who in an age adjusted to slavery wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”; Through such maladjustment an already decadent generation may be called to those things which make for peace.

Freedom

There is nothing like Freedom in Jesus. This last season of my life has been rather difficult. With my parents getting a divorce to finding out that my biological mom really did want a part of my life all these years, sometimes you wonder where God's grace is in all of this. You question who you are, you battle your flesh in thinking that nothing really matters anymore, you even question your next steps as a person. But no matter how hard the enemy presses in, all I know is that God's Grace abounds much more. No matter how hard my circumstance or how much I feel forgotten, God's grace can't forget me. And no matter how much I feel hurt, depressed, saddened, bitter, or angry, there is nothing like finding True Freedom in Jesus Christ. When we run out of ourselves, that's all we have left. When we stop trying to find hope in other things, we realize that He is the only Hope that rises above our situation. And when we finally decide to cast our cares upon Jesus, we find peace, joy, grace, strength, FREEDOM! Find yourself today lost in Jesus' Freedom!

iPhones and BB guns


I remember when the iPhone first came out and they were over $600. I remember that day, because my brother was one of the millions that stood in line for hours to get one of these fancy new phones. But the thing that I can never get out of my head was when I happened to turn on the news that night. The headline said, "Man shot with BB gun for an iPhone." I almost had to shake my head and rub my eyes to make sure that I was reading it correctly. Sure enough, a man had wanted one so bad that he took out his BB gun from his car, shot a man, and took his iPhone. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I mean this man would do whatever it took to get that phone, and he did.

Now I know that this story is absurd, but it got me thinking about a story in the bible. Mark 2 talks about a story of two guys that had a friend who was crippled. As Jesus was coming to town to speak, the crowd gathered to meet Jesus. These guys knew that this was their only chance to get their friend healed. So they pushed through the crowd with their friend and then still couldn't get to Jesus. So they went on the roof and cut a hole and dropped their friend in front of Jesus. And Jesus healed the man because of his friends faith. I mean can you just see Jesus teaching and then all of a sudden debris from the ceiling starts falling on His head and this man gets put right at his feet.

Anyway, you know the thing I love about this story is that these guys did whatever it took to get their friend to the feet of Jesus. When you look at this story, it relates so well to what is going on today... See in this story, the crowds gathered together to hear from Jesus, and in the same manner, the crowds gather to church to experience the same thing. But what convicted my heart was the attitude of these 2 guys. They knew that they had to get their friend to the feet of Jesus and there wasn't anything that was going to get in the way. See the reality is, there is always going to be an obstacle, you will always have a choice, and God's promises will always prove true. I think for many of us, we have friends that we know need to experience God's love, or God's Grace, or healing or forgiveness, but we let excuses and obstacles keep them from experiencing God. God is always faithful to show up when we have faith, but are we willing to do whatever it takes to get the ones we love to the feet of Jesus? What can we do to get our friends to the feet of Jesus? It's amazing to me what people do to get the latest and greatest thing, and even more amazing to me what people don't do to help others experience the living God. People are worth so much more than iPhones and BB guns
