are you moved?

I have started to really notice that the longer that I am in ministry, the more I find out what people are really going through. You find usually that the ones that seem to have it all together, usually are hurting the most. I was reading my Bible this morning and was taken by Jesus and His reaction to the crowd. It starts in Matthew 9:36-38. It says in verse 36, "When He saw the crowd, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no Shepard." I think it is so easy for us now days to blow past people due to what we see on the outside. There are so many people out there that are going through so much. Some need a miracle while others just need a friend. But the bottom line is that Jesus took the time to look deep into their hearts, and it moved Him. Jesus always acts out of this attitude doesn't He? He always has this deep burden and compassion for the people around Him. Are we this burdened by our generation, one that is dying more and more each day? I am not a statistics kind of person, but if we did our research, we would find that, unlike any other generation, ours is more polluted, sexual, and more broken than this world has ever seen. I don't know about you, but my heart is burdened for the crowd. Jesus goes on to say later that the laborers are few but the harvest is plentiful. What does that mean? Well there is a world that needs compassion, that needs someone to stand up for them, that needs someone to be their friend, that needs someone to tell them the truth. But not very many are moved to do anything. Open your eyes and see the crowd, see your school, see your generation and be filled with compassion. Are you moved?
