I watched this video today and was intrigued first at its art and creativity, but then at its slightly deeper meaning. It made me think about who's behind me. Is there any one at all? All of us are leading people; some more than others. But nonetheless we are all leading someone. When you take time to look behind you to see who is following, you may be given a little hope that what you are doing is right or you may be a little embarrassed. All I know is that if we never take time to look, we may never know who we are taking with us. I know for me, it challenges me. When I think of the people who are following me, I don't want to lead them to a place of destruction but success. I want to lead people into the presence of God. But the bottom line is that we are in front. If I want to lead people into a freezing cold lake, I have to be the first to jump. If I want to lead people into standing up for a cause, I have to stand first. If I want people to experience the presence of God, I have to dive in first. Who are you leading and where are you leading them to? Are you willing to push the line and go first or are you hoping that they will magically jump on board for you? You are a leader, but where are you taking people? Take a look behind you and press forward towards the things of God and lead people into the Kingdom.
Who is following you?
