one thing

This weekend I got the privilege of seeing my sister Aftynn graduate from a year long intensive program called Anthem. She is a phenomenal girl who is going to do great things in this world. Anyway, Shane Rogers got the opportunity to share just "one thing" he could tell them before they went on to the next part of their lives. It was kind of like a graduation speech. But that "one thing" that he was talking about was amazing. In Genesis, God tells Abraham that He is his reward. Not his son or his stuff but Him...God...being in the presence of God...knowing God... that was His reward. yet Abraham wanted more... He couldn't see past what he wanted. We see this today so much in our world. People try to find their worth and reward in so many things... drugs, relationships, etc. But these are obvious. Anyone can look at these and find out quick that they don't satisfy. But as Christians, we can fall into this same pattern, but instead, it is good things. It is easy to find our reward in the good things that God blesses us with. We can be a lot like Abraham, where we lose sight of the real reward of being in God's presence, not the materialistic blessings. Being in God's presence is all that matters. Knowing His voice is worth more than anything. What good are good things, if we don't know God... What good is great ministries without the presence of God. Be one to seek out the presence of God. There is nothing like His love and presence. Seek it out... Let that "one thing" be your reward.
